Lawrence County Board of Education Special Meeting: Sept 1, 2022
The Lawrence County Board of Education, in conjunction with the Lawrence County School District Finance Corporation held a special meeting on September 1, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the LCHS library. Board members Jim See, Maddlene Roberts, and Barbara Robinson were present in-person, while Chairman Heath Preston joined virtually. Ms. Skaggs was absent from the meeting.
Items of communication included an invitation LCHS Music Instructor, Ms. Annie Johnson to welcome all LCHS Alumni to practice/sing My Old Kentucky Home before LCHS home football games.
An overview of the Local Planning Committee held on Sept 30, 2022, was summarized. Public forums will be utilized in the future to discuss items needed in our schools and grounds. The next Local Planning Committee will take place at the LCHS library on September 20, 2022, at 5:00 PM.
There was a motion made by Maddlene Roberts and seconded by Barbara Robinson to accept the Consent Agenda items. The motion passed and focused on items such as donations, fundraising for various schools, and several use of facilities requests.
There was a bonding capacity update provided by Lincoln Theinert, Municipal Advisor for Ross, Sinclair & Associates. He gave an in-depth summary and projection of Lawrence County Schools bonding potential.
The board passed a motion to approve the preliminary drawings of the City of Louisa’s proposed sidewalk improvements. This approval will allow the next step of ADA compliance discussions with the Kentucky Department of Education.
The board also approved and passed a motion on the Revised BG-1 for the LCHS Softball Fieldhouse & Upgrades Project BG: 22-147 and submission of the Revised BG-1 to the Kentucky Department of Education for review and approval.
The Lawrence County School District Finance Corporation Special Meeting was called to order to consider and approve to adopt a resolution authorizing the issuance of revenue bonds for school building purposes. The purpose was to relate to and provide for the issuance of $1,035,000.00 principal amount (subject to a permitted adjustment of $105,000.00) of school building revenue bonds. The motion to approve was given by Barbara Robinson and seconded by Jim See. The board members passed the motion.
