Exciting Update! LCHS Health Sciences Internships are Underway!

LCHS Health Sciences internships are officially underway! Our first-semester pre-nursing students are gaining valuable experience at Jordan Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Meanwhile, our pharmacy technician students are working at Three Rivers Medical Center, and our dental assisting students are interning at Dr. Marc Lester's office and Valley Health-Fort Gay.

These students benefit from 2-3 hours of hands-on learning each school day, directly from healthcare professionals. We are incredibly grateful for our community partners and the valuable opportunities they offer to the students of Lawrence County!

Urgent Attention! TRAFFIC ALERT: Starting Monday, August 31st

Late this week, LC Schools received notification about the upcoming restoration project for the Louisa/Fort Gay bridge deck.
- This project is projected to last two months.
- The construction will affect traffic in the downtown area.
- Our primary concern is that morning drop-off and dismissal at Louisa East Elementary School will be significantly disrupted.

Traffic Guidelines to Follow:
- Important! Do NOT block any intersections at any time!
- Please enter at the red light on Main Cross Street or Madison Street.
- The exit route should remain normal, but please **do not line up** along Franklin Street as this will obstruct buses traveling between the West and East Elementary Schools.

The Louisa Police Department has provided a map indicating acceptable streets in yellow and
non-acceptable streets in orange where lining up is not permitted.

Please allow extra time for traffic delays and exercise patience during this construction process! #LCisHome

Claire Dutton, an 8th-grader at Louisa Middle, had an amazing week showing livestock at the Kentucky State Fair! Preparing for the show requires a tremendous amount of effort. Each day, animals need to be fed, watered, and trained to get them ready for the show ring. We are thrilled to share Claire's achievements from the 2026 KY State Fair!

Celebrating Adam Chaffins, LCHS Class of 2006, Grand Ole Opry Debut Tonight at 7:00 PM!

Tonight, our very own Adam Chaffins, a proud member of the LCHS Class of 2006, will be making his debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage! We are immensely proud of our talented students who are realizing their dreams and making an impact.

After graduating, he moved to Nashville, TN, and has continued to thrive in his musical journey. Adam is now a gifted songwriter and instrumentalist, collaborating with notable acts such as Billy Strings, Lee Ann Womack, and Jake Owen.

Tonight, we will cheer as he steps onto the Grand Ole Opry stage to achieve yet another milestone. We are so proud of you, Adam, and wish you all the best on this momentous occasion! Congratulations to LCHS BioMed students Erinne Horn and Ava Jarrell!

Erinne has earned a position as a Rural Health Scholar through the Northeast KY AREC! This program focuses on college preparation, health career exploration, and invaluable academic support.

Ava has been selected to the Northeast Area Health Education Center's-- Creating Healthcare Advancement and Rural Growth through Nursing Education (CHARGE) program. This program provides career exploration, learning resources, professional mentoring, and job shadowing opportunities for students interested in pursuing a nursing degree.
